Business as usual at Gaydon

So another year has flown by since the last outing at Gaydon celebrating 100 years of the iconic and well known 3 letter acroymn. It was pretty much business as usual, the BMW festival that brings out like minded enthusiasts both young and old together to share a common interest.

Setting off in the early hours of the morning as part of the Custom Cars stand we took a leisurely drive up to the Gaydon motor museum to be part of a great show and catch up with old friends.
As a regular to the show over the years one of my little criticisms has been getting the cars into the venue, but have to say the last few years now have been great on the Car Clubs part. As you would usually expect with a big show you would wait in a stacked car queue but they have really got this down to a tee with little to no hold up driving towards our stand area.

Every year the venue has been going through a little metamorphosis and where there were club stands in a particular area last year there is now building work being carried out. As the venue is quite large this didn't affect allocating cars throughout the area. If you plan your day out right you can quite easily view all that was on display.

There was some great cars to see all ranging from clean OEM cars to finely modified examples and we kick off with some pictures the Custom Cars stand and a selection from the show.

The classics were out on display and didn't disappoint.
A great addition to the show is the podium ramp where the Car club interview owners about their cars and give a rundown on what they have done like with this E46 M3, the owner who has turned it into an all out track weapon, taking out the S54 and in its place the legendary S85 V10 engine.
The original M1 drew in large crowds throughout the day and for me was the car of the show for me. It was pretty much faultless and a car you really need to appreciate seeing in the metal.
Forum/club stands were represented well respectively from the likes of E30 Zone, TotalMCars, M3 Cutters, BMW E39 Club UK and more.

With great weather on the day it was an enjoyable outing. One of things that I felt was lacking a little last year was the trade stands but I am glad that this time round the car club have addressed this and there was a decent amount of traders from the likes of SSDD Motorsport, Powerflex, Autobrite Direct, A Reeve performance and more. The Car Club have done a great job and look forward to next years installment.

VanityBMW Show at Bealieu 2017

Welcome to technically the first blog for 2017. This year we're trying to change things up this year with going to a few different shows to mix it up. Kinda doing this blog backwards as the first show this year we attended was Straight Outta Kempton over 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately I lost some of the photos I took from the show and to top it off my spare battery despite showing a full charge decided to drain out after a few minutes. But that's for another blog which I will try to do a write up on that show.

16th July was a very busy day for shows as there was 3 on at the same time. You had a pick of VanityBMW, Gravity and Uxbridge Auto Show. All great shows and after hearing great stuff with VanityBMW we decided to attend this year.

The event took place at the Beaulieu motor museum in the picturesque New Forest. The venue is a great place to have a car show and the last time we ventured down as a group to Beaulieu was for The German Show hosting each year until that stopped for reasons unknown a few years ago.

Step in Ed Gould who over 2 years ago formed VanityBMW hosted the very first show last year at Beaulieu and from talk within the BMW circles and in social media the show was a success. So onto this year and with various car clubs and forum's coming together in one place it certainly wasn't going to disappoint with range of metal on display.

Starting out with a selection from the Custom Cars stand:

Selection featuring cars from the E39 Club UK, Total M Cars, E36 Kings and more.

The show was a real gem, and had a good chilled out vibe to it. If you managed to get through the day with seeing everything, your ticket included entry into the Beaulieu motor museum which is a must see on its own featuring historic vehicles from years gone by. It was a great day out and the journey is worth it driving through some lovely roads through New Forest admiring the views. I can see this show being a regular date for the calendar for years to come and if you missed this year, get yourself down for next year, you will love it.
